3D Intraoral Scanner

One of the most exciting advances in dental imaging technology is 3D intraoral scanning. This digital imaging technology captures a digital replica of your teeth quickly and comfortably. Unlike standard intraoral photography, which is two-dimensional, intraoral scanning is three-dimensional and creates a 100% accurate digital “model” which is anatomically correct and can be used by Dr. William Harrell to show the full truth of your oral structures, ensuring a more precise and effective treatment.

Intraoral scanners use a small, wand-shaped camera to capture pictures of your teeth and mouth. Our orthodontist and team simply pass the wand over the surfaces of your mouth, instantly capturing images of your teeth and supporting structures in full detail. The images are processed and transferred to a nearby monitor to provide an immediate, complete and highly accurate image of your mouth. Captured images are saved automatically every few seconds, preventing the need for a second scan, and we can start and stop the imaging process as needed to ensure your complete comfort.

Once the imaging process is completed, Dr. Harrell can then use the 3D images captured to study your mouth and plan your treatment. Because the images are anatomically truthful, we can rotate and expand them easily to model your treatment plan and find the type of care that is right for your needs.
